After studying extensively with Jiro Yonezawa, a Japanese bamboo basket maker and teacher, I became proficient in making Japanese-style baskets, particularly diagonal twills. Watercolor paper quickly became my medium of choice after taking a seminar on weaving with paper. I have since combined my knowledge of traditional bamboo techniques with the paper techniques. What most attracts me to using paper and paint for weaving is the ability to play with color and pattern. I continue to experiment with various weaving methods and techniques to see where they will take me and the woven form.
